Sun SST-802 Tachometer Restoration: Sender-Free Upgrade
Sun SST-802 Tachometer Restoration
This Sun SST-802 came to our shop with a failed circuit board, a weathered case, and signs of heavy use — a typical example of the wear we often see on these iconic tachometers. Like many SST-802 units we restore, it was brought back to life with a full cosmetic and functional overhaul, including a modern sender-free upgrade.
About the SST-802
A staple of 1960s and 1970s muscle cars, the Sun SST-802 is one of the most requested tachometers we see at Calibrated Classics. We’ve restored dozens of these units for customers around the country — each with its own unique condition, quirks, and needs.
This post highlights one of many SST-802 restorations in our portfolio.

- Dial carefully restored to maintain original character
- Chrome bezel replaced with a replated original
- Housing and lighting system cleaned and restored
